Membership Information
We’re always on the lookout for new members to join our growing team, but the fit has to be just right. The paranormal is both thrilling and rewarding, but it demands a level head, dedication, and effort. Our team is quite active, averaging around 25 investigations annually (about 2 per month typically on Friday or Saturday nights for 8-10 hours at a time). Sometimes we stay overnight to keep our equipment running until morning. But the work doesn’t stop there. Evidence review follows each investigation. We offer both full-time and part-time positions that will help fit everyone's schedule. Every team member, regardless of their role, is responsible for reviewing some portion of the evidence. This requires keen attention to detail, a good level of unbiased skepticism (remember we're looking for things that can't be explained away), and can follow a schedule.
Beyond our 'team only' investigations, we also host public ghost hunts, participate in collaborative investigations, attend expos, and engage in other paranormal events.
To ensure we pick the right person to join our team, we place all new recruits on a provisional period before offering them a full or part time position on the team. So, there will be plenty of time for all of us to get to know each other and determine if this will be a good fit.
I’ve included additional information to help you determine if NightSong Paranormal is the right team for you.
I look forward to your application. Best of luck!

Character and Work Ethic.
At NightSong, we’ve worked hard to build our reputation and credibility in the field, fostering trust and strong bonds not only with other paranormal teams but also with the locations we investigate. Our team members must be a good person to the core. Our team members are logical, polite, professional, compassionate, and genuinely committed to finding answers. We're also pretty funny, too. You have to have a good sense of humor to work in this field. One major rule: we always investigate with respect—not only for our fellow teammates but also for the location and the spirits that still reside.
Experience.
We hold a high standard when it comes to investigations and evidence. We also do not mind training the right individuals (even if they do not have much investigative experience). It’s crucial that team members connect well, so all investigators spend time getting acquainted with their provisional teammates and conducting joint investigations. We tend to notice logical thinkers and scientifically oriented investigators during the provisional period.
Passion for the Paranormal.
Paranormal investigation isn't the glamorous "as seen on TV" experience many might expect. While TV shows and YouTube channels often chase views and monetary gain, real investigations are quite different. If you're new to this, forget what you think you know about typical investigations. Yes, some investigations are active with spikes of activity, but most of the time, we're patiently waiting for any sign. You need patience and a level head, knowing that there may only be a few moments of activity over many hours. Even then, we spend a lot of time trying to recreate or debunk those moments. It's the passion and pursuit that drive us. We get to ensure the stories of those who once walked this earth live on. We help educate people who may be scared or concerned about entities they don't yet understand. We gather, study, and confirm or debunk evidence that brings insight. We also get to learn and explore new techniques and technologies. We see the forgotten beauty of days gone by, meet new people, and make great friends along the way.
Cost.
Investigating can be pricey, and being part of an operational team comes with additional costs (but plenty of perks too). As volunteers, we often pay to investigate haunted locations and always cover our own travel expenses. Team members need their own basic investigative toolkit, but we also have a library of team gear that can be checked out for investigations. Once you complete your provisional status and sign the membership agreement, members receive a complimentary NightSong Paranormal team shirt. Additional t-shirts, hoodies, and other branded gear are available for purchase at team cost. Being part of the team has many perks and rewards and that also comes at a cost. We collect monthly membership dues from all members. Please consider all costs before applying.
Have Faith (whatever that looks like for you).
We honor and respect all faiths and belief systems. Each team member’s individual beliefs, practices, and traditions are valued. Whether it’s religion, spiritualism, or any other form of belief, we do not discriminate. Every path offers unique perspectives and practices. As long as you find meaning and fulfillment in your journey, you are welcome here. We encourage all members to take precautions according to their belief system to ground and protect themselves before and after every investigation.
In addition, team members must:
