How to Sage (Cleanse) Your Home Properly
Many families ask us about saging as a way to reset the atmosphere in a home. Used respectfully, it can help calm and clear stagnant energy.
Important: Saging is not a guaranteed fix and does not “banish” anything.
Our goal is always to rule out natural and environmental causes first.
✨ What You’ll Need
- Sage bundle or loose sage
- Fireproof bowl or shell
- Lighter or matches
- Optional: feather or your hand to guide smoke
□ Recommended Smudge Kit:
For convenience, many families prefer an all-in-one kit.

⚠️ Safety First
- Never leave burning sage unattended
- Keep away from children and pets
- Crack windows for ventilation
- If you have respiratory sensitivity, consider smoke-free options
How We Sage (Step-by-Step)
This is the method we personally recommend. Go slow, stay calm, and focus on intention.
-
Open a few windows.
This helps air circulate and gives heavy energy a path to leave while you smudge. -
Set your intention.
Take a moment to breathe and calmly state your intention, such as: “Only love, light, and peace is welcome here. All negative must go.” -
Light the sage.
Light the tip, then gently blow out the flame so it produces steady smoke. -
Move through the home slowly.
Start at the back of the home and work your way forward. Guide smoke into corners, closets, doorways, mirrors, and near windows. -
Speak calmly as you walk through each room.
Repeat your intention as you go: “Only love, light, and peace is welcome here. All negative must go.” -
Finish at the front door.
Briefly open the door and visualize heaviness leaving the space. -
Fully extinguish the sage.
Press the sage into your bowl or sand until completely out. Dispose of the ashes by flushing them down the toilet. -
After about an hour, close the windows.
Once the home feels settled, close the windows. -
Repeat seasonally.
Smudging every few months can help maintain a calm, refreshed atmosphere.
□ We Recommend:
Keep a simple 7-day log of anything unusual (date, time, what happened, who was present).
If possible, place a small camera or baby monitor overnight.
