The Bell Witch Cave, a karst cave in Adams, Tennessee, is situated near the former Bell Farm. Stretching approximately 490 feet (150 meters) in length, this privately owned cave offers tours during the summer and October. The cave is famously linked to the Bell Witch legend, a period when the Bell Family was allegedly haunted by the Bell Witch. Located on land once owned by the Bell family, many believe the witch sought refuge in this cave after departing the family. According to legend, young Betsy Bell and her friends explored the cave, where one boy became stuck in a hole. A voice exclaimed, “I’ll get him out!” and the boy felt hands pulling him free. The invisible Bell Witch then admonished the children for their reckless cave exploring. |
